Henry Adams
Like his father, Henry Adams was also a native Bostonian and Harvard graduate, and a ‘Yankee’ in a London which did not favour the Northern war efforts. In a letter written to his older brother, Charles Francis Adams, Jr, he wrote, ‘We have friends here, but very few.’
Five years after the war, Adams became a professor of medieval history at Harvard University.
